Adding our February 2012 Workbench of the Month from Will Myers of Boonville, North Carolina to our Lake Erie Toolworks Blog for ease of access and historical awareness.
I would like to submit a bench for your workbench of the month. I have also been writing an article forwww.wkfinetools.com. The screw you sent is perfection in motion, I was very impressed with the craftsmanship.
This bench project started about 15 years ago. It is made of Red Oak. The top is a solid slab 4-1/4″ thick by 19″ wide and 7-1/2 foot long. The legs are made of glued up 2x Stock. It is inspired by Andre Roubo’s plate 279 bench. The leg vise is made from a Lake Erie wood screw. The tail vise has steel tracks and a steel screw. I used a 2/3 Danish Oil – 1/3 Poly finish. The assembled weight is 342 pounds.
